I believe the UK shooting community can use digital marketing, technology, and AI to grow far beyond the expectations of today

I love shooting. It’s my passion, and my peace.


I discovered the shooting industry a little later in life, having spent twenty years as a marketing and commercial director in the software industry.


Now, it’s my genuine desire to see British shooting sports thrive, and to that end I’m dedicated to helping the industry to put its best foot forward.


I’m a keen FITASC and Game shooter, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, the advisor on technology and marketing for the Gun Trade Association, and a CPSA shooting instructor.

The product offering includes comprehensive software for shooting sports, specialist digital marketing services, AI implementation services, and technical support.

Monty and Moose Limited is a software company founded, and owned by two passionate shooters, Monty & Moose.


The software is a comprehensive digital suite for shooting grounds, gunrooms and coaches. There are modules live, and incoming for reception, electronic point of sale (EPoS), events, bookings and coaching.

  • How did you get into shooting?

    I had dedicated myself to a career in technology, and my family, and hadn't really had much time to do anything for myself. I went searching for an outdoor hobby and just happened to live pretty near a shooting school.


    I started to learn to shoot at a time when my stress levels were high. Being outdoors and doing something that so totally engaged my concentration gave me a real sense of peace when I needed it the most.


    I so loved the experience that I determined to transition into the shooting industry.

  • What are you trying to achieve?

    My goal is to do what I can to accelerate the adoption of digital marketing and techology across the shooting industry.


    I believe that the British shooting industry could grow, substantially, if as a community we could make better use of technology. Both digital marketing, and software that facilitates exceptional experiences.


    Other industries have understood and embraced these practices as business as usual. The faster we adopt new technology, the easier we will find it to succeed.

  • What is Monty & Moose?

    Monty & Moose is a collaboration between two passionate shooters, both called Philip. It just so happens that people know me as Monty, and my business partners nickname is Moose.


    Ultimately we picked the name as a jovial take on hundreds of businesses in the shooting industry that are named 'something & something'.


    The product itself is a fully integrated software suit that manages the reception, bookings, membership, electronic point of sales, and events, for shooting grounds, gunrooms and coaches.

  • Why did you choose mk38 as a name?

    I learned to shoot locally at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, where their school guns are Browning 525s. One day, searching for my first gun after securing my license I saw what I thought was a very beautiful 525 in the rack. It was an mk38 grade 5 sporter. I now shoot an mk38 Competition.
